Gaelen Foley
I started off with Gaelen Foley‘s The Pirate Prince in early 2005 and fell in love with her writing almost instantly. At that time, she was quite a new author. My other book club’s members are feeling the same too. She’s really good in telling stories. Full of description and real. Witty conversation too. Exciting plot.
I have to admit that I’m a sucker for pirate story, hence my love for The Pirate Prince is not a surprise. It’s the first book in the Ascension trilogy. I got the second book, Princess not long after the first. However, it took us nearly a year to complete the trilogy as the last book, Prince Charming was very hard to locate. But at last, we did complete and continue to her second series, which is more famous nowadays.
Her second series is The Knight Miscellany, which comprises seven books. As the name says it, these books are about the Knight family of six siblings. The special thing about them is even though they are sharing the same family name, it’s an open secret that they are all from different fathers. The Duchess of Hawkscliffe is well known as the Hawkscliffe Harlot.

We started off with the fifth book, Devil Takes A Bride, which is a little bit branch off from the Knight family, about Lizzie Carlisle who’s the best friend of Lady Jacinda Knight (the heroine in the fourth book, Lady of Desire). Next, we were able to find Lord of Ice and Lord of Fire, about Damien and Lucien Knight, the twins. Lady of Desire was next we read. One Night of Sin is about Alex Knight, the bad apple in the family. He’s the one that breaks Lizzie’s heart in the Devil Takes A Bride. At last, Alex proves himself worthy in his book. I couldn’t wait for His Wicked Kiss from the rental bookstore, so I went to purchase one myself from MPH. His Wicked Kiss is about the Black Sheep of Knight family, Jack Knight who is a pirate that owns a shipping company. Another proof that I’m a sucker for pirate, I just couldn’t put the book down. I just have to own it. Finally, in 2008, we found the first book, The Duke.
That completes the series but at the same time leads us to Gaelen’s new series The Spice Trilogy. Another branch of the Knight family. These books are about the Knight’s cousins in India. Lucky for us, we have completed the trilogy in just two months.
