Laguna Redang – Day 1
We woke up as early as 5 a.m. and were out of the door by 6 a.m. Took the LRT and reached KL Sentral around 7:00 a.m. I had already check-in through the web the day before and printed my boarding passes. It was my first and it was quite efficient. But still we had to queued and got our passes endorsed at the counter before we could board the ERL. The flight itself was free of hassle but the waiting time was killing us. First we waited for our flight. Then we were transfered from the Kuala Terengganu airport to Merang Jetty which took around 30 minutes journey. It was the longest wait at the jetty as there are only 2 boats daily and we missed our first boat which was at 9:30 a.m. Our second boat was scheduled at 12:30 p.m. We waited for more than 2 hours at the jetty, which really was a disappointment but nothing we could do.

I wish they could do something about the jetty waiting area. It’s just a hut with nothing but benches. Why can’t it be better? At least with WIFI or better cafe. Hehe! The journey from the jetty to Laguna Redang was only 1 hour but it felt like hours, maybe because I was anxious to meet the beach and sea. We were greeted by a lady at the resort jetty and she gave some introduction about the resort while we were on board on our ride from the jetty to the lobby.

The resort’s map…it’s big…

This was our ride from the resort jetty to the lobby…felt like a ride in safari, indeed…
At the lobby, we were greeted with a welcome drink and brought to lunch immediately. Lunch was buffet with combination of local and western cuisine. Nothing much to shout about. One thing obvious was the crowd. It was supposed to be near end season yet there were so many people at the resort. More are seen to be arriving the following few days while we were there. More to our surprise, there were more people from China, Indonesia, Hong Kong etc.
Our package was the end season promotion where we got the deluxe room at the price of standard room. Again there’s nothing to shout about the room. Just thank God we didn’t get the standard room. My darling is very particular about room and that explains why we always go for small luxury hotels. We enjoy luxurious room. Anyway, the room is of no concern once we see these:

Apparently, Laguna Redang is considered the best resort in Redang where its resort lies at the best beach called ‘Pasir Panjang’ where the movie ‘Summer Holiday’ was filmed years ago. Every guest even gets to watch the movie on TV in the room…for as many times as you want. The movie repeats itself day in day out without stop. Hehe! I seriously lost count how many times I watched Sammi Cheng and Richie Ren arguing or on bed scene. Hehe!
The original house where the movie was shot has already been demolished and rebuilt at the side. It was said to have maintained the original structure for remembrance but now the house is a gift shop.

This is definitely not in the movie but I saw many young couple posing for photos. We didn’t unfortunately because we think we are old couple by now. Hehe!

Our package includes all meals: breakfast, lunches and dinners…all at this restaurant…We had to queue and take table number to enjoy our meals.

The lobby building is iconic which is also the Laguna’s logo. I truly love the sand, so white and fine. I miss it now. Our package also includes 3 snorkeling trips where I have more photos to share in the next post.

I havent been to Redang…
so sad…
I am sure you enjoy it
ooh..next time take the plane directly to Redang. Saves so much trouble. Berjaya Redang Resort is equally best! Let’s shout out together now “We heart Redang!”!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The white beach and blue sea looks so inviting. They seem to be calling me. Nice photos!
Johntim,
You take your dear dear and go la. The promotion is still on-going until end October.
Gargles,
I have thought about taking Berjaya flight but the last time I took it to Tioman, it was delayed for 4 hours before I could get back home. Anyway, as I said before, our MAS flight tickets were free cause we used Enrich miles to exchange. That’s the only reason why we went to Redang at the first place.
Yeah, WE HEART REDANG!!! Let’s go together again…
Mun,
Thanks. The sea and beach are calling Mun…come to me now…come come…You need a good sun tan…haha!
